Free And Low Cost Winter Activities
With the calendar turning to December and the cold weather now upon us most people hide indoors with a blanket wrapped around them watching TV until spring once again arrives. It really doesn’t have to be like this as winter provides us with a large amount of indoor and outdoor activities and hobbies to participate in. Here are seven great free or low cost things you can do this winter while waiting for the warm spring weather.
- Go Tobogganing - Grab your friends and family, your toboggan, a couple of thermoses of hot chocolate and head to you local hill and enjoy the day. Remember to bring your camcorder to capture any of those funny toboggan incidents for later upload to youtube.
- Go Skating - Again get your friends and family together, some hot chocolate or your favourite hot toddy, your skates and head out to your local ice rink or frozen lake for a great game of shinny or just to skate around enjoying the winter day.
- Learn A New Hobby - On days when winter makes it impossible to go outside why not sit down and try to learn a new hobby. Using the internet or your local library you will be able to find a number of new hobbies that will match up with your interests. For example why not learn how to knit, sew, speak a new language or how to cook.
- Learn A New Recipe - Why not pull out your mom or grandmas old recipe book, borrow a recipe book or buy a new recipe book and learn to prepare a new meal or dessert and then invite some friends over to sample what you have created.
- Make It A Movie Day - With family in tow head out to your local DVD rental shop and pick out various movies that everybody is in agreement with, head back home, relax and pull out the blankets and watch movies for the day.
- Read A New Book - Head out to your local library and check out that book you’ve always wanted to read but never had the time for. With no chores in the yard to complete take some time to get back into the habit of reading.
- Head To The Gym - The cold winter days due make it hard to get outside for regular exercise so why not get a gym pass, get to the gym and start on your New Year’s resolution before the New Year even begins.
